Our mission is to encourage excellence in training and practice of group psychotherapy by:

Sponsoring educational and training programs aimed at enhancing skill in group leadership.
Providing opportunities for collegial and supportive interchange among group psychotherapy professionals.
Spreading information about resources available to group psychotherapists,
and to consumers of group psychotherapy services.

 

History

IGPS, founded in 1964, an affiliate of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, is a
multidisciplinary organization dedicated to advancing knowledge, research and training in
group psychotherapy, and committed to promoting quality group psychotherapy care,
advancing group psychotherapy training and research, providing a network of peer support,
and advocating for quality care.
